Handcrafted standing seam systems have a long tradition. Panels run vertically up the length of the roofs and are lock-seamed together by hand or simple machinery. The system is generally used for small to medium size roofs (up to 2.000 sqm). Larger surfaces are mostly equipped with the automated standing seam lock systems.

Variations of the classic standing seam systems are on the market since the beginning of metal application for roofs in Roman times. This panel type is identified by its adjacent panel edges which are bent up to 90°, then folded over the adjacent panel edge to form a tight joint. Joints are closed manually or closed with light machinery.
