Pecci Center for Contemporary Art

Architect Nio Architects
Location Prato, Italy
Sector Cultural
Manufacturer Bemo Systems GmbH

The renewed ‘Luigi Pecci museum of contemporary art’ located in Prato (IT) and is one of the few modern art museums in Italy with an extensive collection. To grow even further the museum wanted an extension to double the exhibition space.

Nio Architects designed an extension that embraces the existing building like an outer ring. To create this rounded shape the architect chose lightweight aluminium standing seam cladding. The mechanical character of the existing building is empowered with the AluNatur Gold Brushed finish of the extension. In this way, contemporary art is surrounded by contemporary architecture.
