The concept and design of this modern hotel has been done by Paul de Ruiter and Mulder Blauw architects. The LEED Platinum certification shows its commitment to sustainability. Carpets made of recycled fishnets and a greenhouse growing vegetables for the restaurant is just the start. One of the most visible circular elements of the unique 21-story "living building" is the innovative moving façade. This 'intelligent façade' consists of moving panels on the outside of the windows that, if the guest is not in the room, respond to the outdoor climate. In this way they provide extra insulation on cooler days or let sunlight flow in for heating, so that the room always stays at a pleasant temperature. This revolutionary climate control provides an incredible reduction of 65% in heat energy and 90% in cooling energy.
